My parents, mom especially has always been drilling in us the importance of being perfect always, in everything we do, with whoever we meet and whenever possible. We that's my sister and I have always tried our best to follow her this rule but gradually over time I have come to realise that slipping occasionally is ok. Its ok at times to not be perfect.
Its ok if once in a while I do not call home, its ok if once in a while I come back home from office and do not cook dinner, its ok if I sometimes go out with my friends for some drinks and come home sloshed and its ok if I once in a while dig into my savings and splurge on some insanely expensive Makeup, ok that happens to me pretty often :P #storyofmylife. But seriously isn't it ok to not be a super woman just once in a while?
Of course I dished it out with my mom and she carefully listened to me, then she ruminated over it for a while and then almost whispered to me that I had said something that made her proud of her upbringing of me :) Yay to that! :D
We discussed out a bit more at length and came up with a list that could never be compromised while we could slip at other times occasionally ;) Points that topped the list of no compromises included being a good human being, no cheating and not being hurtful to others. But I guess these were quite expected ;)
So is it ok to slip occasionally and not be perfect?
